101 - Whiterwater Inflatable Kayak - Zero to Hero 


 

This one day course puts you on the fast tack to being a Salty Captain of the river. We use inflatable kayaks on Class 2+ Rivers to develop your skills and understanding of the river environment.

Covering how to read the river, spot hazards and style every rapid and eddy like you're and seasoned pro! Join us for this fun introduction to the Whitewater Environment.

Kayak Anatomy

  • Flow (CFS-Cubic feet per second)

Eddy anatomy:
  • Inside eddyline

How we enter and exit eddiesATM
  • Angle (depends on speed of current and intended outcomes)
  • Tilt (edging down stream to maintain stability through the maneuver)
  • Momentum (maintaining momentum through out)
Strokes:
  • Forward stroke refinement (short and at the front)
  • Sweep refinement (long and away from the boat)

Intro to Whitewater Inflatable Kayak - Barton to Carver on the Clackamas River
8:45 am- Meet at Carver Park Clackamas River 
9:00-10:00am - Defining river and and its features
10-12:00 River - strokes and maneuvers, maneuvers with river features
12:00-12:30- Run shuttle to Barton
1:00pm- Saftey Talk
1:15pm-3:45pm Run River - Barton to Carver
3:30-3:45pm -Take Out
3:45-4:00pm -Wrap up
4:00-4:30pm -Run shuttle
  • Any appropriate personal paddling equipment/gear you want to use
  • Any additional items that may be required on the water (SPF, medications, ect)
  • Spare clothing/towel
  • Baselayers for drysuit (non cotton - long underwear)
  • Baselayers for wetsuit (swimsuit) (non cotton top)
  • Food and water for the day

Covid Safety Protocols and Safety Measures:

  • The best thing we have going for us is UV light kills viruses almost immediately
  • We ask that you bring a mask, so it can be quickly dawned when necessary 
  • Take measures to boost your immune system
  • Isolate yourself prior and during your travel as much as possible
  • On land we will be wearing masks and maintaining 6’ when possible
  • If you show any signs or symptoms please cancel immediately
  • Please cancel if you or any household member has had 2 or more covid symptoms in the past 14 days

The Pacific Northwest weather can change rapidly, our courses run in most conditions. We reserve the right to cancel any course/rental due to safety concerns, weather and/or low sign ups.

In which case a refund or credit towards another course/rental will be issued.

Notify us up to 14 days prior to course to get a full credit issued.

Cancellations within 48 hours of the courses/rental are NOT refundable.

Full refunds may take up to 90 days.
